Primarily trained as an artist, Izam Zawahra Alejandro, possess studies in Business, Art History and Connoisseurship. Zawahra, for over four years has been managing the roles of curator, artist run space director and independent art dealer, has created ZAWAHRA ALEJANDRO to foster the work of a select group of contemporary artists. These artists have been featured in numerous international gallery and museum exhibitions. Their work has been recognized and awarded by major institutions such as the Joan Mitchell Foundation, Bloomberg Contemporaries and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. 

While ZAWAHRA ALEJANDRO looks to forward the careers of selected artists its strive to be much more than that. Along side artists Héctor Madera and Danny Rivera Cruz, Zawahra builds an experimental hub that host an exhibition space, a project space and expands to web based art. Headquartered in Santurce, a town in Puerto Rico's capital city of San Juan, ZAWAHRA ALEJANDRO works to become an international platform that connects Puerto Rico with the Caribbean and the  Americas.
