Untitled (In Standstill) is part of the Rodriguez’ ongoing series, Halt. These series of works\objects all draw on familiar as well as abstract associations of the domestic space, re- veiling it as a place of mystery and wonder. As if deciphering scientific phenomena through the eyes of a child, concepts like the center of mass are explored through a series of balancing apple juice bottles. Rodríguez employs apparently banal objects and situations that under patient contemplation reveal their potential to marvel, their charm and poetry. Minimally altering everyday objects and materials to generate an aura of magic, the artworks somehow “freeze” fleeting phenomena creating a momentary halt or standstill, slowing down the perceived passage of time to dilate experience.
